As a Polyvision shopper, there are a few primary features that you should know and consider :

• Interactive Whiteboards :  An interactive whiteboard is a basic whiteboard that has evolved from just a writing source to an entirely interactive source. When interactive the whiteboard becomes one giant touch screen. You simply drag your finger across the whiteboard and the mouse follows. This is beneficial as you can control all computer actions from the front of the class or meeting room. Interactive whiteboards are available in two forms: Front Projection and Rear Projection.
  • Front Projection Whiteboards

    Front Projection Whiteboards have the projector in front of the whiteboard. The only downfall to these boards is that if the presenter stands in front of the screen, their body will cast shadows.

  • Rear Projection Whiteboards

    Rear Projection Whiteboard projectors are located behind the whiteboard so that no shadows occur. Rear projection whiteboards also include the advantage of not having the presenter look into the projector light while speaking to his/her audience. The drawback to these systems are that they are generally more expensive than front projection whiteboards.

• Plasma Screen Overlay :  A plasma screen overlay is a touch screen add-on module that sits at the bottom of the plasma screen. These overlays enable your plasma to work in exactly the same way an interactive whiteboard would. The presenter is able to touch the plasma screen surface to control the mouse or annotate/highlight the presentation. A benefit of using a plasma screen is that a shadow will not occur from the presenter.

• Copyboards :  Electronic copyboards appear to be regular whiteboards but have the capability to print out what is drawn after a presentation. These copyboards consist of a built-in printer located directly under the copyboard. Copyboards print onto A4 paper that can be passed out to your audience or easily photocopied and then handed out. Printing can come on two types of paper: Thermal and Plain paper. Plain paper printers use ink cartridges that must be replaced when they run out. Plain paper has the best quality for printing but thermal printouts could easily be photocopied for hand-outs.
